Are you faking loving your life?
I listened to a Marie Forleo podcast featuring Jenna Kutcher ages ago. At the time, I had never heard of Jenna Kutcher… but I did love listening to her talk about how over her life she has had beliefs of others thrust upon her - and how she rejected them!! I was talking with friends today about feeling the bad feelings because us girls are very (very!) good at not feeling the bad feelings... being the optimist!
There’s this “cultural thing” out there that makes me feel (maybe you feel the same?) that feeling bad isn't something we're allowed to do. We can’t show anyone else that we feel angry, that’s something that women should keep to themselves. We shouldn’t feel proud either… it isn't cool for women to be like that. If you had the belief that you might be just one decision away from a completely different life, what would tomorrow look like?
I consider procrastination as a normal part of life. But like all things… you can have too much! Making decisions is another part of normal life, and when we are making them, we know that some are small and insignificant, others are huge and life changing. Some are disguised! I’ve often thought about time the same way I think about money. We can invest time, we can spend time, we can waste time, and we can save time.
Have you found yourself wanting to make a change and then sabotaging that change somehow?
It happens to most of us… but how do the people who make change and make it stick make change? One of the ways is that they are aware of the five triggers for an old habit. Where is your diary?
I’m betting that there are more than a few of you guys with a sheepish look on your face… because you either have no idea where that gorgeous diary you bought in December last year is, or you know exactly where it is… and it’s still in pristine condition! Stress is exhausting!
We all know that stress left unchecked will lead to burnout, but do we always recognise what stress is though? I’m not sure we do… let me explain… I’ve just returned from an overseas holiday – I was stressed out!!! And, no, not from work!!
Like most people, I’ve not been able to holiday overseas for a few years (let’s not talk about that…) – and the anxiety I felt the day before and the day flying out was next level for me. “How do I find myself?”
I hear this question (or some type of statement around it) over and over again… and sometimes I think it’s the most ridiculous question I've ever heard. Because we don’t have to find ourselves... we're not lost!! How do I get in the mood to get started on my tasks?
The quick answer is not an easy one, but it is quick one. You don't. |
