You make a decision… Based on the knowledge you have at the time! And from there you dive right in! So many “right” decisions are undone before they've even got started because we second-guess our choice. And second-guessing actually prevents us from playing “all in” on something and enjoying it to its fullest, or using it to full advantage, or we back out - full stop.
I use a worksheet when I have a choice to make that I feel is really important and find myself so indecisive I can't even make a decision…let alone second-guess! It gives me time and space to work through my questions and fears; and present myself with the possibilities. If I'm still feeling unsure after that then I give myself an “If this; then…” clause. Then I'm all in!!! Here is the worksheet I use 😍 And an example of an “If this; then…” clause? I am often scared of wasting money or time on something that's not right. So, an example of how my clause works is: I choose to start going to the gym…but I'm scared that if I buy a membership and I don't like the feel I'll not go - therefore making me feel like a failure AND wasting so much cash that I could use for something else. I do my research and find a gym that “looks good” and has a limited membership option; so I can try it out without the pressure of 12 months hanging over me. I go full on - trying out all the parts of the gym. When I get to the end of the limited membership I can then decide if I continue or try something else. It's like dating before you get married! Another example is that you buy a car, but you're worried it will cost more to run than you want to spend. Jumping in - you buy the car. You're “If this; then…” is that if it starts to cost you more than X amount of dollars to run, you'll sell it and buy something else. (You're choosing not to throw good money after bad.) You can always make another decision!
